What to Expect from a Birth Photography Session.

So you’ve decided that you would like to know a little more. What’s next?  Please get in touch either by the contact me page or send me a message on Instagram or Facebook. We can then talk about what you are looking for and how best I can capture your story. I would love to get to know more about you.  If you are wanting to book a birth shoot, then I would suggest a face to face or phone catch up with you so we can chat and get to know one another.  Your birth space is sacred and it is an absolute privilege to be invited into it. Therefore, it is so important that you are comfortable with me beforehand. During this meeting, we will discuss what you want. These are your moments,  your photos and I want you to feel in control of everything.  We will chat about the types of labour shots you want, whether that be pictures of baby crowning, or strictly waist up photos, so it might be something to think about before we catch up. I will also send you a questionnaire along with a contract at time of booking.

Once you have decided to book, I just ask for a 50% deposit to secure your spot, and then the remainder of the amount at 37 weeks.  Please get in touch if you would like to talk about payment plans.  The price includes being on call from 37 weeks, all your photos edited and sent within 2 weeks,  lots of sneak peeks and any announcement photos sent within a few hours after I have left.

I like to keep in touch every now and then to see how you are going and then when labour starts (or if you are being induced or c-section date arrives) you call me to let me know things have begun. Then once you are ready for me to arrive (normally when active labour has begun), I will be with you throughout labour, after baby is born (roughly 2 hours) and then I will come back for either siblings meeting for first time, or for a newborn shoot in the next 24-48 hours after birth, if that is what you would like. Birth only packages are available that do not include newborn shots. Please do not worry if you call and labour fizzles, I would much rather be ready then miss the birth!

A few important things to note: with COVID being so unpredictable, if restrictions come in and  I am unable to attend your shoot then a newborn shoot at home will continue as planned and you will receive a credit for a future shoot (family or even next maternity/birth shoot!)  I also ask if you can please check with your hospital that 2 support people are allowed in the labour room with you.  Please note, I will count as a support person.  So if you are also planning to have another person alongside your main support, I would not be allowed in.

I will also ask for myself and you to sign a contract once booked so we can both be comfortable. Please know that no photos will be uploaded into the public space unless I have written confirmation from you, after all this is your story to tell.  I also have a full Working with Children’s check and National Police Certificate, that I can provide upon request.  I am also vaccinated against COVID and Whooping Cough.
